Should NOT have drank alcohol three nights in a row because I feel a tad less enthusiastic about writing today and am battling severe doubts on what I can achieve. Writing the first couple of thousand words of a novel is always tough for me. I have to remind myself to head into it full steam, let scenes pan out, let characters sound out uninhibited and give the narrative a chance to build towards a story. Keep writing, don’t stop until the alarm goes off and then walk on out of here and get into something completely different. Do not even THINK about it afterwards. Allow for inspirations to rise up and surprise me in its own time. In the meantime fill your head with other things – kids, housework, weightlifting, read the Bronte biography and the book on polyamory.
